The Long Beach Press-Telegram article No Bullying by Kelly Puente got me thinking about how to get our preschoolers to behave nicely with other kids in their daycare classes and on the playground. The PeaceBuilders program sounds like a good way…. Here’s a Kansas study for Positive Behavior Support. I also have many more links from my post I wrote in 2009 on reducing toddler behavior problems.

Oh, what a blessing! Oh, what a heart-wrenching story! Meet the Guardian Angel Orianne Greene who stayed with 3 year old Aiden until his dad returned on the next MAX train in Portland. Aiden and his dad got separated by a slamming MAX train door – Dad on the train and son on the platform! Every caring parent’s nightmare! Read all about it here on OregonLive.com! Kudos to Orianne! 🙂 I can only imagine my angst if such an incident happened to me and Austin!

Sometimes the best of our children or grandchildren get into what we adults would call ‘bad behavior situations.’ Sometimes it seems we’ve tried everything to straighten it out — but the bad behavior continues. Linnea Linkus has a very special exhibit called ‘Healing’ of 35 portraits of children with special needs displayed to benefit The Steel Magnolias, the fundraising group of Stramski Children’s Developmental Center at Miller Children’s Center in Long Beach, CA. I read about it in the Long Beach Press-Telegram in an article written by Sue Manning of The Associated Press. Linnea Linkus’ photography is absolutely beautiful. Do explore her website and her blog! Perhaps consider purchasing her special book Healing which will also benefit The Steel Magnolias.
The ‘Healing’ exhibit opened last Friday, October 2, at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach. On October 10 the GLOBAL public debut of ‘Healing’ will be at the Phantom Galleries LA, 390 E. 3rd St in Long Beach at 8 pm.

I taught my daughter to read when she was three. Now she has a three year old and she wants to teach him to read. I think we started out just reading her favorite books over and over again and later we got workbooks to do, too. I did find some interesting websites that have suggestions on how to go about it now:
