Here is a fun look at the Plankton in the ocean that look like Christmas decorations, snowflakes and angels. It was a neat surprise to find it on the Monterey Bay Aquarium blogsite.
Here is the series on environmentalgraffiti.com by Michele Coilet using photos by Dr. Richard Kirby, a Royal Society Research Fellow at the University of Plymouth.
The Monterey Bay Aquarium has a display of Sea Drifters in the Outer Bay that has been there quite awhile and is now going to get a new look – so you can visit the drifters until May 1. Here is a neat video on Jellyfish from the aquarium.

The new exhibit Hot Pink Flamingos is now open at Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA. See how climate change is affecting our oceans and the life within them. If you don’t live within visiting distance, there is still great information and exhibits on-line to explore.
I include lots of ideas of places to visit and activities to explore with children on mygrandmasue.wordpress.com, so do check them out! 🙂

Help Monterey Bay Aquarium‘s Executive Director Julie Packard in her latest action alert to save sea otters like Kit. The Aquarium’s Sea Otter Research and Conservation (SORAC) program has been trying to save the threatened southern sea otter since 1984.
See my other sea otter mentions on https://mygrandmasue.wordpress.com, a website about and for grandparents, parents and their special children in their lives by award-winning author Grandma Sue. 🙂

The Monterey Bay Aquarium sent a letter yesterday about the plight of the sea otters. Here’s the aquarium’s page on Southern Sea Otters. Check out The Otter Project, too!
The Sea Otter Research and Recovery Act (H.R. 556) passed in the House late Tuesday afternoon by a vote of 316 to 107. Now the bill moves to the Senate; we’ll be sure to let you know when the time is right to ask for support from your Senator.
Here is the aquarium’s on-line Sea Otter Exhibit page and another page about sea otters with a video and activities. Here’s another video, too.

I’m so excited to find my way in this sharing of information.
Grandpa Ron and I had a fabulous time in Monterey, California this past weekend.  The weather was great. The ocean was refreshing. The sunsets were beautiful.   The Monterey Bay Aquarium has an awesome new seahorse exhibit. It is wonderful! I still can watch the jellyfish for a long time.
